GUYANA’S CYCLING TEAM RECEIVES GOVERNMENT SUPPORT AHEAD OF CARIBBEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS

GEORGETOWN, GUYANA | OCTOBER 10, 2026 — Guyana’s national cycling team has received financial assistance and cycling kits from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport ahead of the Caribbean Elite and Under-23 Cycling Championships, scheduled for October 10–11 in the Dominican Republic.

Minister within the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, Steven Jacobs, announced the support in a public statement, reaffirming the government’s commitment to assisting athletes representing Guyana at regional competitions.

The five-member team comprises Ajani Cutting, Aaron Newton, Segun Hubbard, Briton John and Andre Green, who will compete against cyclists from across the Caribbean.

According to Jacobs, the ministry provided the equipment and financial assistance to support the team’s participation in the championships.

The minister also extended best wishes to the cyclists as they prepare to represent the Golden Arrowhead on the regional stage.

The announcement did not specify the amount of financial assistance provided or the individual events in which the cyclists will compete.

The championships will provide Guyana’s riders with an opportunity to test their abilities against regional competitors and gain valuable international racing experience.
